Description:
Neurons in a dish
This installation wants to conceptually show you what a fluorescence microscope allows you to do. Start with switching on the light of the exhibit and watch inside the hole. One can grow human cells in culture (here neurons and astrocytes) and be particularly intersted in neurons and proteins in it. Scientists can label with a fluorescent tag proteins of interest and watch the cells in the dark of a microscope to see them. Now, switch off the light and look through the hole again. What do you see?
