Description:
Micro-ER-phagy 1
The painting illustrates a biological process called yeast micro-ER-phagy, which is a degradation mechanism that involves a spectacular restructuring of the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) into multilamellar whorls and their uptake into the vacuole, the “stomach” of the yeast cell. The main structure depicted here represents ER whorls as they are incorporated by the vacuole. I used a 3D collage technique to emphasize the ER whorls as the main elements in the composition.
