Micro-ER-phagy 2
As “Micro-ER-phagy 1”, this painting illustrates a biological process called yeast micro-ER-phagy, which involves a spectacular restructuring of the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) into multilamellar whorls and their uptake into the vacuole, as a degradative mechanism. The main structure depicted here represents an ER whorl after being internalized by the vacuole, the “stomach” of the yeast cell. In this artwork, I used a very vibrant and complementary color palette, and a collage technique, with which I tried to emphasize the ER whorl as the main element in the composition. .
