Microinjection

Description:

Microinjection

This artwork illustrates the microinjection of a fruit fly embryo (Drosophila melanogaster)—a technique that allows site-specific transgenesis on these animals. Through this method, exogenous DNA can be integrated into the Drosophila genome, producing different transgenic flies of scientific interest. The illustration shows the position of the needle in the perivitelline space of the embryo at the time of injection. The artwork was employed to illustrate the Doctoral Thesis of Lautaro Gandara.
