This 3D clay render shows the progression from the appearance of aggregated cargo in the cell, through its ubiquitination and pick up by cargo receptors p62, NBR1 and TAXBP1. Additional autophagy machinery such as FIP200 is then recruited on the cargo to allow wrapping by the autophagosomal membrane (in yellow). This render was created for this article.
